Yoga & Meditation

IMG_2472.JPG

Welcome!

I'm Lynne Headley, I want to share with you the beautiful gifts the practices of yoga and meditation can bring to your life. It's not about twisting yourself into a pretzel or making your mind go blank, it's about taking the time to nurture yourself through compassionate practices that can make your body feel supple and your mind feel refreshed. It's about being still enough to hear the gentle, supportive voice inside of you.

Yoga is a lifestyle, a choice, a way to connect to who you've always been.

My Story

My journey towards becoming a devoted yogi, and eventually a yoga teacher, began with the Ashtanga Primary Series. I found the practice physically and mentally challenging while being soothingly meditative and steeped in tradition. As my practice deepened, I began sharing my love of Ashtanga with the incarcerated women of the Richmond City Jail.  Witnessing the transformative power of yoga on these women's lives inspired me to follow my dharma and become a certified yoga teacher.

Meditation is not a way of making your mind quiet.

It is a way of entering into the quiet that is already there

Classes

YIN

CONTROLLED CONCENTRATION

Suitable for all levels of students,Yin is the perfect balance to our active (Yang) Yoga practice, as well as the movements and stresses associated with everyday life. It is a mellow, passive practice that targets the deep layers of connective tissues (Yin tissues), such as the ligaments, fascia, bones, and joints of the body. Postures are mostly practiced on the floor and held for 3-5 minutes, this allows the body, breath, and mind to find stillness and deep relaxation. Pranayama (guided breathwork) and Meditation will end the class.

MEDITATION

PRESENT MOMENT AWARENESS

Beginning can be the hardest part to practicing meditation, but even with the intention to practice, most of us donโ€™t know where to start. If you have ever been curious about learning how to meditate and begin a personal, and on-going, meditation practice, come join our weekly morning meditation class. We will hold the space for you to discover the healing power of meditation by learning various meditation and breathing techniques. Uncover the power of the present moment, respond to your life and its stresses with mindful awareness, presence, and compassion. No prior meditation experience is necessary, all levels are welcome.

ASHTANGA IMPROV

BREATH AND MOVEMENT IN SYNC

Ashtanga Fusion is a dynamic class based on the traditional poses presented in the Ashtanga Primary Series fused with Intermediate Series poses, supportive modifications, and anatomy informed alignment principles. This introduction to Ashtanga offers an energetic way to build strength, flexibility, endurance, and focus. Practitioners learn to connect the breath and movement to experience the sense of a moving mediation, cultivating a calm, steady, and focused mind. This introduction is designed for those with experience practicing Sun Salutations.

VINYASA

INTELLIGENT FLOW

Designed for students who have practiced yoga for at least a year, Vinyasa Yoga is a great way to start your day. Elegant sequencing, anatomy informed alignment, and attention on the breath guide these classes. Students are encouraged to experiment and have fun with their practice in a safe and mindful way. Sun salutations, core work, standing poses, backbends, and inversions are key components to this active, well rounded practice. A closing Pranayama (breathwork) practice and short meditation leave students energetically balanced and relaxed.

DYNAMIC HATHA

BREATH AND MOVEMENT IN SYNC
While perfect for beginning students, seasoned practitioners may find a new connection to traditional Hatha Yoga postures in this class. Sequencing is based on the energetics of the body, and postures are practiced by moving in and out of their shapes in union with the breath. Students find this allows them to build strength, range of motion, balance, and a deeper awareness of the posture in their body. Pranayama (guided breathwork) and meditation will round out this energetically balanced class.

Coaching

and

Mentoring

BESPOKE SERVICES TO ELEVATE YOUR PRACTICE

Traditionally, yoga and meditative practices are taught from one teacher to one student. Today, our practice in the West has shifted to group classes. However, when a teacher gets to know you personally, they can create a practice to suit your needs and goals, thus allowing you to better incorporate these practices into your life.

I would be honored to create a yoga or meditation practice devoted entirely to you.

  • One-On-One Coaching: Working together to build a consistent daily practice using the subtle tools of relaxation, breathwork, yoga, meditation, diet, and more. Together we evaluate your needs, set goals, and make strategic plans to nurture your body, mind, and soul. In person or virtual using Zoom.

  • Teacher Mentorship: A great way for new teacher or those who have been teaching for a while and want to sharpen their skills. We will brush up on anatomy, alignment, teaching methods and sequencing, philosophy, and ethics. This can be one-on-one mentorship or a small group class.

  • Always a Student: Practicing on-on-one or as a small group, this is an excellent way for yoga students to dive deeper into what they have experienced in class. Specific focus can be on physical practice, philosophy, wellness, and meditation.

One-on-One- $75 per hour

Small Group- $60 per hour (2-6 people)

Corporate- Price determined by consultation

SANGHA PRACTICE

COMMUNITY

UNITY

CONNECTION

Come practice with us on Wednesday, July 21 at 6:30pm.

I've set the time a little later to allow for some shade and cooling. We'll meet at my house, and depending on the number of people who can come, we'll either stay in my yard around the pool, or we will move to the field across the street. I'll have lots of cool water, and you can always take a dip if you get heated.

This multi-level class will be one hour. I will be able to offer hands-on assists during the practice, and answer your practice questions.

This will also be a great way to lay eyes on all those we've missed so much!

Hope to see you there!
